Treat the air before combustion, not the exhaust after it.

Plasmoid X is a retrofit for yacht diesel engines, designed to cut fuel burn, emissions and soot by changing the air the engine breathes. It is in development, and we are looking for our first trial vessels.

Exhaust after‑treatment wasn't built for yachts

SCR and diesel particulate filter systems are bulky, high-maintenance and prone to failure. They add weight, take up engine room space and give the crew another system to service at sea.

Plasmoid X works on the air before it reaches the engine.

Plasmoid X system diagram. Air enters an ionizer containing water and UV light, then passes through two linked stainless spheres. Exhaust flows the opposite way through an outer chamber before leaving the boat, and the treated air feeds the turbo and engine.
  1. Air in

Fresh air is drawn into the system instead of going straight into the turbo.

  2. Ionizer

The air bubbles through water under UV light, which turns it into plasmoids. Filters keep the water out of the engine.

  3. Vajra

The plasmoid air spirals through two linked stainless spheres around a sealed core.

  4. Heat exchange

Hot exhaust spirals the other way through the outer chamber and warms the plasmoids through the wall.

  5. Into the engine

The warmed plasmoids feed the turbo, where they are designed to give a more complete burn.

  6. Exhaust out

The exhaust leaves through the outer chamber, cooler, and out of the boat.

What it is designed to do: burn less fuel for the same work, send cleaner exhaust out of the boat, and cut the soot that wears cylinders and internals.

Ricardo Negri, founder of Plasmoid X

Built by a yacht engineer

Ricardo Negri spent 13 years as an engineer on sailing and motor yachts, looking after their engines day to day, before starting Plasmoid X to help marine engines run cleaner and last longer.

Plasmoid X oversees every installation, and any contractors we bring in are vetted to the same standard.
